Spider-Man: Brand New Day has grossedN1.8 billion at the West African box office, becoming the highest-grossing Hollywood film in the region, according to FilmOne Entertainment.
The distributor announced the milestone on social media, describing the performance as a record for the superhero franchise and thanking audiences across West Africa for turning out to watch the film in cinemas.
The latest figure marks a significant jump from the film’s early performance in Nigeria, where it had already set a box-office record before its nationwide release.

In a post on X, Filmone Entertainment stated, ”Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially the highest-grossing Hollywood film of all time in West Africa, and what a run it has been.”

- The film grossed N215.5 million in its opening week in Nigeria and later surpassedN423 million after two weeks in cinemas. In the United States, Spider-Man: Brand New Day generated a record $72 million in preview ticket sales, setting a new benchmark for the biggest domestic preview opening in Hollywood history and surpassing the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame. The film is projected to earn between $260 million and $280 million during its opening weekend.
The latest Spider-Man performance represents a considerably larger commercial run. FilmOne said the record was made possible by audiences who bought tickets, attended screenings and brought friends and family to see the film on the big screen. The distributor said the movie remains in cinemas across the region.
The performance also reflects the continuing value of blockbuster franchises to African cinema operators. While audience growth remains relatively modest, major releases can generate significant revenue by attracting large numbers of viewers and supporting premium ticket prices.

On Aug. 1, Nairametrics reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day recorded N120.4 million from preview screenings in Nigeria, the biggest preview opening in the country’s box-office history at the time. The figure surpassed the previous record and showed the commercial strength of major Hollywood franchises among Nigerian cinema audiences.
- Also on July 30, 2026, Filmhouse Cinemas recorded the highest advance ticket sales in its history, with more than 3,500 tickets sold for Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead of its nationwide release on Friday, July 31.
- The film’s early momentum continued after its wider release. Industry projections at the time suggested it could exceedN500 million during its first five days in Nigerian cinemas.
