The recent gaffe from President Jonathan referring to ACN politicians as rascals didn’t surprise me. Its just one of the symptoms of being a PDP politician. Politicians occasionally have a go at each other during the campaign season but I’ve never seen any jibe this irresponsible and rascally made since the advent of the democracy in 1999. Even the often predictably brash OBJ wouldn’t condescending that low.
For a President who intends on convincing the people of the South West to vote for him he may have committed a kamikaze on himself. I just feel for supporters of this President, who see him as some divine messiah who is destined to bring us out of the doldrums even if it’s by luck. People fail to realize the seed for greatness lies in the little but significant pieces of transformation in the lives of communities. Recent history doesn’t show any significant improvement in the lives of the people he governed in Bayelsa. It’s foolhardy for people to expect so much from a man who doesn’t really know what to attribute to his rise to power except for the cliche of “divine intervention”.
For the aggrieved ACN who might see this as an opportunity to cast the President as out of touch and disrespectful, my advice is for them to stick to politics of issues and harp on the meager gains of some of their more versatile Political office Holders in the last dispensation. But off course being Nigerian politicians, they may just take the high road of Political Rascality like the person they seek to dethrone.

I've been trying to check various newspapers and I can't find it..What did he actually say?
Dre, considering Nigerian political environment right now, finger pointing is certainly not what Mr President's opponents should hit him on..rather should hit him on issues. If he actually resorted to name calling then he is belittling his position as well as is showing signs of not having platform on which he is running on(issues whether economic or social)but its not surprising to me:)
My point of view exactly. It's a shame people feel it's perfectly ok for him to resort to name calling. Is this country ready for change?? Hard question!
I feel you Dre..that's a mindset Nigerians need to change..that feeling where one thinks its okay to do whatever you want or say whatever you want and then go scot free..he is a politician a prestigious one for that matter and not an agbero..so Mr President of all people should know how and when to use words in a subtle way and not in a blunt manner..
