The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N13 billion for compensation payments under the Lagos Transmission Industrial Project, part of a broader push to modernize Nigeria’s power infrastructure and strengthen electricity supply for industrial growth. 
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has disclosed that the Federal Government's renewed intervention in the power sector is set to boost Nigeria’s grid capacity by an additional 4,000 megawatts (MW) by the end of 2026.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it has restored electricity to several northern regions, including Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe states. 
President Bola Tinubu has ordered the deployment of a combination of the Nigerian Army and Air Force to protect engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), who are currently fixing damaged transmission lines.  
The federal government has set up an Inter-Ministerial committee from the Ministry of Power and Gas to suggest sustainable ways to ensure a steady and sufficient gas supply to electricity generation companies.  
The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu has stated that both the Olorunsogo and Omotosho power plants were operating below 25% capacity as a result of gas shortage which further curtails power generation across the country.  
According to him, the country’s metering gaps are making collection difficult, and this has given rise to liquidity issues.
