New currencies: 7 ways Big Brother Naija 2021 differs from others

MultiChoice’s 2021 edition of the Big Brother Naija reality started yesterday, but there are new innovations introduced by the organisers to make the show more exciting for fans.

Let’s take a look at what makes the 2021 edition different from others aside from the upgraded grand prize of N90 million, which is the highest in the show’s history.

Below are seven new innovations that make the show stand out.

Dual launch

Unlike others that were launched once, Season 6 is starting off in two evenings. The show will launch for the first time ever across two evenings. The first part of the premiere was aired on Saturday, June 24 while the second part will air on Sunday, June 25, 2021.

More rewarding tasks

For many that thought the lockdown edition had the most engaging and rewarding tasks, they are in for surprises. Big Brother Naija Season 6 will have even more incredible and financially rewarding activities for the housemates.

BBNaija house revamped

Organisers promised that the house is going to look completely different from the way it did last year. New decor, new spaces, and even a surprise feature that has never appeared in other seasons.

Two new house currencies

Biggie is retiring the old currencies used in the former seasons and will introduce two never-before-used currencies.

A 30-minute show tagged ‘The buzz’

The new season will feature an exclusive 30-minute show called The Buzz twice a week where viewers can get all the hidden action they may miss on other channels.

The dedicated series will be a magazine-styled show with a host which will be released twice every week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

No SMS Voting

All the voting will be done on the Big Brother Naija website and mobile site as well as on the MyDStv and MyGOtv apps.

United Kingdom fans can now access BBNaija

For the first time ever, BBNaija fans in the United Kingdom will have access to the live 24/7 show via the African online streaming service, Showmax.

What you should know

  • Big Brother Naija season 6 will run 24/7 on DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Confam, and Yanga packages on channel 198 and on GOtv Max and Jolli packages on channel 29.
  • It can be recalled that in September 2020, Olamilekan Agbeleshe popularly known as Laycon, won the Big Brother Naija season 5 reality TV show after 10 weeks of being inside the lockdown house with 19 other housemates that took part.
  • MultiChoice Nigeria had earlier in March announced N90 million as the grand prize for the winner of season six of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show.
  • This makes it the highest grand prize a winner of the reality show will be receiving since BBNaija debuted in 2006.
