Sunday Igboho, leader of the Yoruba Nation group and activist has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
Igboho was arrested by the security forces in Benin Republic while allegedly trying to escape to Germany, according to Punch.
“He was arrested in Cotonou while he tried to travel out on Monday night. His destination was Germany. The security forces in Benin Republic should repatriate him to Nigeria on Tuesday,” a source said.
Nairametrics reported earlier this month that the Department of State Services (DSS) disclosed it arrested 13 suspects when it raided the Ibadan residence of Mr Igboho, accusing him of stockpiling weapons for use against the Nigerian state.
Igboho’s arrest is coming about three weeks after the DSS declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms.
