NSIA invests $5.5 million in radiology centre in Abia State

Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) commissioned its $5.5 million investment into the Umuahia Diagnostic Centre (NUDC) in Umuahia, Abia State. The Centre will specialize in radiology and diagnostic services.

This project was commissioned on Tuesday, according to announcement by the Federal Government. Nairametrics understands that the facility offers a full-range of advanced diagnostic services in South-East & South-South region.

“The NSIA-Umuahia Diagnostic Centre is the 2nd diagnostic centre built by & 3rd healthcare centre of excellence opened after NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre, Lagos (2019) & NSIA-Kano Diagnostic Centre, Kano (2020),” the agency announced.

NSIA also noted that the centre would be operated by Statpath, a joint venture between Crestview, a provider of radiology services in Nigeria and Synlab, a global provider of pathology services.

Media aide to the Presidency, Tolu Ogunlesi, added that NSIA’s new centre comes after the $11 million investment in the LUTH cancer centre in Lagos state and a $5.5 million NSIA-Kano Diagnostic Center (NKDC), at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) which opened in March this year bringing the NSIA’s total investment into healthcare at $22 million since last year.

The commissioning was attended by Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed; Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu; Minister of State for Health, Dr. A. Olorunnimbe Mamora; Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba; and MD/CEO of NSIA, Uche Orji.
