Stock Market: Custodian, IB, Access, others lead gainers’ chart

Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc, International Breweries (IB), Access Bank, Dangote Sugar and Nigerian Breweries (NB) led the gainers’ chart at the end of trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday.

 

While Custodian earned the best-performing stock, as it gained 7.69% to close at N6.3, IB gained 5% to close at N12.6, Access Bank Plc, Dangote Sugar, NB,  gained 5.11% to close at N7.2, 3.38% to close at N10.7, 0.96% to close at N52.5 respectively.

Meanwhile, trading at the bourse ended Wednesday in negative territory as the All-Share Index closed at 27,283.05 basis points, down by 0.25%.

Top Losers: On the flip side, Sky Aviation Plc was the worst-performing stock, declining by 9.89% to close at N4.19. Guinness Nigeria Plc fell by 2.96% to close at N34.45. Zenith Bank Plc fell by 1.35% to close at N18.3. Dangote Cement Plc fell by 1.30% to close at N152. MTN Nigeria Plc rounded off the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 0.72% to close at N138.

Top Trades by Volume: Access Bank Plc was most actively-traded stock today. 133.5 million shares valued at N926.4 million were traded in 362 deals. Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc traded in 16 deals. Nigerian Breweries was next with 88.6 million shares valued at N558.4 million traded in 16 deals, followed by Nigerian Breweries Plc with 71 million shares valued at N3.7 billion traded in 85 deals.

FBN Holdings Plc was next with 31.2 million shares valued at N168.9 million traded in 198 deals.  Union Bank of Nigeria Plc rounded off the top five most actively traded stocks today with 19.1 million shares valued at N126.6 million traded in 18 deals.
