Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu has debunked allegations that he falsified information on his academic certificates.

Kachikwu is a series of tweets on his handle said that information on his document clearly shows he obtained a Second Class Upper degree from Faculty of Law at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1978. He also noted that he was on the best graduating list with Second Class Upper for that year.

Recall that Premium Times in an article titled FACT CHECK: Document shows Kachikwu lied about graduating with First Class in Law, accused the former ExxonMobil Vice Chairman of providing the wrong information as regards his class of degree during a church programme in Abuja.

According to a 7 minutes video seen online by Nairametrics the Minister claimed he made a first class at the law school.

“…I made a first class in the law school and then, getting to Harvard – my feeling, as soon as I got into Harvard was – this is a very unique institution, the biggest in the world and basically you must have a 2.1 or first class from your primary institution before they can accept you…

“…At the end of our master’s programme, I was the best student; got a Harvard scholarship and I went to do my doctorate and for it; I set what is still a record in Harvard of completing a doctorate in one and half years.”

Recently two serving Minister under the Buhari-led Administration have been accused of either falsifying their certificates  (former Finance Minister,  Kemi Adeosun) or skipping the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (Communication Minister, Shittu Adebayo).
