Airline manufacturer, Airbus Group has sasid that it plans on opening an operationall office in Nigeria due o its confidence in the FG’s vision for the aviation industry. This was disclosed in a meeting between offiials of the company, the French mbassador to Nigeria and the Minister of Aviation held at the Minister’s office in Abuja.
Specifically, the Vice President of the Airbus Group for Africa, Vincent Larnicol told the Minister that the company had embarked on a global expansion program to widen its predominantly strong European roots to move forward on an international scale with fully-owned subsidiaries in the United States, China, Japan, India and in the Middle East. The company’s plans means that it considers Nigeria as the nex point in this program.
As for hte Frennch ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Gauer, he said his visit to the Minister was in order to acquaint French companies with the Ministry and identify with the new government vision and plans for the Aviation sector, as presented by the Minister to various industry stakeholders both in the country and at the international level.
The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika informed the Ambassador and the Airbus delegation that the vision of the government for the sector include, amongst others; the establishment of a private sector-driven national carrier, concession of the nation’s major airports.
