Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos has appointed his daughter Isabel dos Santos, as head of state oil firm Sonangol, according to an article on Reuters. The move is perceived to be aimed at turning around the company after low crude prices hit revenue.
Citing a presidential decree, RNA said Isabel dos Santos would head the company, after the president fired the entire Sonangol board and appointed a new one.
Isabel dos Santos was born on 20 April 1973 and considered by Forbes to be the richest woman in Angola and the richest woman in Africa. Her net worth is estimated at about $3.3 billion.
Angolan President, Dos Santos has been in power since 1979 and is one of Africa’s longest-ruling leaders.
