The Federal Government states it is withholding compensation payments to affected property owners on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project due to alterations in the initial plan.
The Federal Government has announced the commencement of construction on section three of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, starting from Calabar in Cross Rivers State, and section four from Akwa Ibom, pending the completion of the procurement process.  
Ben Murray-Bruce, a former senator representing Bayelsa East from 2015 to 2019 and founder of the Silverbird Group, has stated that the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway will be a lifeline for business and a catalyst for economic development.
The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi has stated that Landmark Africa has no claim to the 250metres shoreline which is part the Right-of-Way for the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway being built by the federal government.
