The Federal Government has released the 2026/2027 admission list for Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) candidates admitted into Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) nationwide.
The Federal Ministry of Education announced the release in a statement on Monday.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, approved the release, according to the statement.
What the ministry is saying
The Ministry is saying successful candidates can check their admission status and print their admission slips through its FME Posting Portal: https://fmeposting.com.ng/auth/login.

Alausa said the release reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to a transparent and orderly admission process for prospective students seeking placement in Federal Unity Colleges.

Federal Unity Colleges have been undergoing changes aimed at improving their administration, funding and admission processes.
- In June 2025, Education Minister Tunji Alausa called for financial reforms for the country’s Unity Schools, including decentralised approvals and quarterly funding releases, after delays in overhead and school feeding allocations left some schools under financial pressure.
- In August 2025, the Federal Ministry of Education announced that admissions into Federal Unity Colleges would be fully automated and conducted strictly within each school’s approved capacity.
- The reform was introduced to address overcrowding and overstretched facilities, with the exercise covering 80 conventional Federal Unity Colleges for JSS1 admissions at the time.
More recently, the Federal Government approved the recruitment of 3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association teachers into the federal public service.
The release of the 2026/2027 admission list therefore comes amid broader efforts to improve how Federal Unity Colleges are funded, staffed and managed.

Last month, Nairametrics reported that the Federal Government has also begun the process of phasing out the policy separating Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) from Senior Secondary Schools (SSS) as part of broader reforms aimed at improving access to education and learning outcomes.
The proposed change is aimed at addressing overcrowding in junior secondary schools, underutilised senior secondary school facilities and rising dropout rates.
The move forms part of wider education reforms under Education Minister, Alausa, who had earlier proposed replacing Nigeria’s current 9-3-4 education structure with a 12-4 model that would provide 12 years of uninterrupted basic education followed by four years of tertiary education.
