Transcorp Hilton Abuja has clarified that a reported water supply disruption at the hotel lasted only one day and has since been fully resolved.
The clarification was contained in a statement seen by Nairametrics and signed by the hotel’s General Manager, Martin Zarybnicky, on Friday.
The hotel said the disruption was temporary and linked to emergency maintenance works by the Federal Capital Territory Water Board (FCTWB), assuring that operations returned to normal shortly after.
The development comes amid social media reports suggesting a prolonged water crisis at the facility. However, the hotel insists the situation was short-lived, managed internally with contingency measures, and fully resolved within 24 hours.
What they are saying
Transcorp Hilton Abuja explained that the water supply interruption was triggered by emergency maintenance works carried out by the Federal Capital Territory Water Board on April 14, 2026. The hotel said it activated contingency measures immediately to ensure guest comfort and continuity of operations.
- “Transcorp Hilton Abuja wishes to address recent reports circulating regarding the water supply at the hotel. We confirm that there was a one-day disruption in water supply, resulting from emergency maintenance works by the Federal Capital Territory Water Board (FCTWB), which commenced on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.”
- “In response, hotel management promptly implemented contingency measures to ensure continued water availability, maintaining guest comfort and uninterrupted service throughout the maintenance period.”
- “We further clarify that, contrary to false and misleading social media reports, the water supply was fully restored on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Since then, the hotel has maintained a consistent and uninterrupted water supply and continues to operate at full capacity across all outlets.”
The hotel dismissed circulating reports suggesting an ongoing disruption, describing them as inaccurate and misleading, while reaffirming that normal operations have resumed.
Backstory
The clarification follows earlier social media claims that the hotel had issued an internal notice warning guests of a temporary water disruption lasting longer than initially stated.
- The notice reportedly linked the interruption to emergency maintenance works by the FCT Water Board in the Maitama area.
- According to the earlier communication, the disruption was expected to extend until April 16, 2026, with full restoration projected by April 17, 2026. Guests were also informed that alternative arrangements were being made to reduce inconvenience during the period.
The incident also reflects broader concerns around intermittent water supply challenges in parts of Abuja, often associated with operational constraints affecting water infrastructure, including energy supply issues, maintenance requirements, and funding-related delays impacting distribution consistency in some districts.
