PEPC : Labour Party raises concerns over Justice Mary Odili’s remarks

The Labour Party, LP has listed its concerns ahead of the upcoming ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

In a statement by Obiora Ifoh, its National Publicity Secretary, they said it has become necessary for the Labour Party to draw the attention of the public to what they termed as “unfolding developments” in the country ahead of the ruling.

Justice Mary Odili’s Statement

Labour Party said it is troubled by a statement made by former Justice Mary Odili during an event in Abuja adding that her words, along with the boasting of certain government officials and legislators about the election outcome, have raised concerns within the party.

Undignified Praises

They claimed that they were concerned about the needless lavish showering of praises on the legal counsels of both APC and Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the retired Justice when the gathering was not theirs.

Live Coverage

They questioned the PEPC’s decision to refuse live television coverage during the petition hearings but now seek to broadcast the judgment live and inquired about reasons for the sudden change.

Freedom of Speech

The Labour Party of Peter Obi also noted that it is aware of the efforts of the agents of the States to orchestrate problems and blame them on the political opposition, adding it is the right of the people in a democracy to demonstrate and the obligation of the state security agents to protect the demonstrators, they added:
