The Office of the Presidency reacted to the lifting of the Twitter Ban in Nigeria, stating that the resolution made with the social media company will lead to a mutually beneficial future with endless possibilities for both sides.

This was disclosed in a statement by the media aide to the President, Garba Shehu on Thursday morning.

This is coming 7 months after the operation of the microblogging platform was suspended in the country after President Buhari’s tweet on military operations in the South-East was deleted and for persistent use of the platform for activities that were capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

What the Presidency is saying

Garba Shehu said, “Let me join fellow countrymen and women in welcoming the resolution of the impasse between the Federal Government of Nigeria and Twitter Inc.”

He added that the resolution between both parties is leading to the laying of a “foundation for a mutually beneficial future with endless possibilities.”

Emphasising that the interests of Nigeria will always come first, he disclosed that the government appreciates Nigerians, “especially the vibrant Nigerian youths who have borne with the long wait to resolve this impasse.”

In case you missed it

Recall Nairametrics earlier reported that Twitter reacted to the lifting of the ban placed on its operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government as it officially resumes.

They said:  “We are pleased that Twitter has been restored for everyone in Nigeria. Our mission in Nigeria and around the world is to serve the public conversation.

“We are deeply committed to Nigeria, where Twitter is used by people for commerce, cultural engagement, and civic participation.

“We’re committed to integrating diverse perspectives that make our service better for everyone.”
