John Holt Plc has announced the demise of one of its Directors, Mr. Paul Newns, who fell to the cold hands of death on Saturday, 13th of November 2021.

This recent development was confirmed by the company through a press statement signed by the Company’s Secretary, Ada Nkwocha, and filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).

Until his death, Paul Newns was a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the company. Prior to joining the Board, he had worked within the John Holt Group, holding various positions.

Commenting on the recent development, the recent press release issued by the company read: ‘’John Holt Plc (the Company) wishes to announce the demise of one of its Directors, Mr.Paul Newns, which occurred on Saturday, 13th of November 2021.

‘’Mr. Paul Newns was a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Company before his demise. Prior to joining the Board, he had worked within the John Holt Group, holding various positions.

‘’The Board and Management of the Company pray that God grants his family and friends the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.’’

John Holt Group named after its founder, Mr. John Holt, commenced operations in 1862. The firm further expanded its area of coverage to Lagos in 1897. The company was incorporated in Nigeria as John Holt Limited in 1961.

It became a public company and was quoted on the defunct Nigerian Stock Exchange (now known as Nigeria Exchange Limited) in May 1974.

The company has wide successful business units with interests in engineering, air conditioning & cooling systems, fire & safety equipment, construction, property development, among others.

The Economic Advisory Council will be tasked to advise the President on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies. Similarly, the team will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President. However, the Chairman may request unscheduled meetings if the need arises.
