The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has revealed the dismantling of the Lekki Second Roundabout as it now wears a new look.

This is part of the measures being taken by the Lagos State Government in a bid to ensure considerable hitch-free traffic for residents and even commuters, who live and work in that axis.

The disclosure of this new development was made by the governor through a series of tweet posts on his official Twitter handle on Sunday, July 26, 2020.

The Governor in his tweet post said, ‘’What was initially known as the Lekki 2nd roundabout not only wears a new look, it also promises a considerable hitch free commute for residents who live and work in the axis. Work is still ongoing across the metropolis, and we are aware of all the areas that need our attention.’’

‘’We are not oblivious to the issues faced daily by Lagosians on the roads, hence the round the clock rehabilitation, upgrade and improvements of inner roads, streets, highways and major roads being carried out by Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC).’’

The state government had asked Lagosians to bear and cooperate with them as they continue to make the roads and bridges in Lagos safe and motorable for everyone.

The Lagos State government had in December last year started the reconfiguration and remodeling of 60 traffic prone roundabouts across the state as part of efforts to reduce travel time and ease congestion.

Some of the roundabouts slated for this reconfiguration include the major ones at Allen, Ikotun, Maryland and 2nd Lekki roundabout. This is to help combat gridlock in those locations and increase the capacity of the junctions to accommodate vehicular pressure and demand. They were billed to be delivered in 4 months.
