Champion Breweries Plc appoints new Managing Director

The Board of Champion Breweries Plc has notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) of the appointment of Georgios I. Polymenakos as the Company’s new Managing Director.

According to the statement released by the company and signed by the company’s Chairman Elijah Akpan, Polymenakos’s appointment became effective on January 6, 2020.  Champion Breweries Plc appoints new Managing Director 

The appointment was said to have been one of the resolutions made during a meeting with Champions Breweries Board of Directors held on Thursday, December 12, 2019.

Polymenako’s profile: Polymenakos holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Wales. He was the Managing Director of Nigerian Bottling Company Limited till October 2019.

His career in Marketing and Leadership has spanned for over 21 years. Having started as a merchandiser under the Graduate Trainees program of Coca-cola Hellenic, Polymenakos has grown through the ranks progressively in his career as he has held various positions ranging from Commercial Development Manager, Regional General Manager and Managing Director until his present appointment.

More details: The Champions Breweries Chairman expressed his optimism as he welcomed Polymenako on board. He also went on to appreciate the former Managing Director who recently resigned after serving Nigerian Breweries Plc for 32 years, Patrick Ejidoh.

“I use this medium to bid Patrick Ejidoh farewell as he resigns as Managing Director to commence his retirement after a successful career of 32 years in Nigerian Breweries Plc. Ejidoh joined this company in 2016 and ushered the company into the path of growth and profitability.

“The Directors and I thank Ejidoh immensely for all his hardwork and wish him the very best in his future endeavour. I trust and count on the support of Management and Staff to effect a seamless transition.” Akpan said.

About Champion Breweries Plc: Champion Breweries Plc is an established brewery in Nigeria manufacturing Champion Lager Beer and Champ Malta as well as a selection on non-alcoholic beverages. The company also brews and packages products under contract to Nigerian Breweries Plc. The main brands in its product portfolio are Champion Lager Beer and Champ Malta.
