The Nigerian Stock Market closes positive as Zenith Bank tops trades

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Thursday’s trading session in positive territory. The All-Share Index closed at 27,629.66 basis points, up 1.01%. Year to date, the index is down by 12.09%.

Top Gainers: Eterna Plc was the best-performing stock today. The stock gained 10% to close at N2.75. Ecobank Transnational Inc also gained 9.49% to close at N7.50. Wapic Insurance Plc gained 8.82% to close at N0.37. Jaiz Bank Plc gained 5.41% to close at N0.39. Honeywell Flour Mill Plc rounded off the top five gainers for today. The stock gained 4.90% to close at N1.07.

Top Losers: On the flip side, University Press Plc was the worst-performing stock, declining by 10% to close at N1.44. NCR Nigeria Plc fell by 10% to close at N4.95. MRS Nigeria Plc fell by 9.83% to close at N18.80. Okomu Oil Plc fell by 9.78% to close at N40.15. FCMB Plc rounded off the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 5.88% to close at N1.60.

Top Trades by Volume: Zenith Bank Plc was the most actively-traded stock today. 54.3 million shares valued at N977.5 million were traded in 364 deals. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was next with 38.2 million shares valued at N1 billion traded in 182 deals, followed by Transnational Corp of Nigeria Plc with 32.1 million shares valued at N34 million traded in 142 deals.

Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc was next with 20.4 million shares valued at N275.6 million traded in 38 deals. Ecobank Transnational Inc rounded off the top five most actively traded stocks today with 18.2 million shares valued at N135 million traded in 248 deals.

Corporate Action

Interlinked Technologies Plc notifies the general public of the appointments of Mr Chike Ikenga and Mr Surajudeen Balarabe Yakubu as directors of the Company and also the retirement of Mr Emmanuel Bribena and Mr Balogun Adedayo from the Board of the Company. This took effect on February 1, 2019.
