NSE closes this week trading in negative territory

NSE Nigerian stocks, UBA, Zenith, First Bank lead actively traded stocks on Tuesday , Courteville, Jaiz Bank, Transcorp lead gainers on Friday

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Friday’s trading session in negative territory. The All Share Index closed at 27,630.46 basis points, down 0.43%. Year to date, the index is down by 12.09%.

Top Gainers: Trans-Nationwide Express Plc was the best-performing stock today. The stock gained 10% to close at N0.77. C&I Leasing Plc gained 10% to close at N6.05. Japaul Oil & Maritime Services Plc also gained 10% to close at N0.22. Berger Paints Nigeria Plc gained 9.60% to close at N6.85. Union Diagnostic & Clinical Services Plc rounded off the top five gainers for today. The stock gained 9.09% to close at N0.24.
Top Losers: On the flip side, Continental Reinsurance Plc was the worst-performing stock, declining by 9.95% to close at N1.72. AG Leventis & Co Plc fell by 9.38% to close at N0.29. Jaiz Bank Plc fell by 6.82% to close at N0.41. Conoil Plc fell by 5.58% to close at N18.60. Wema Bank Plc rounded off the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 4.76% to close at N0.60.

Top Trades by Volume: MTN Nigeria Plc was the most actively-traded stock today. 25.3 million shares valued at N3.2 billion were traded in 101 deals. Zenith Bank Plc was next with 16.9 million shares valued at N310 million traded in 339 deals, followed by Access Bank Plc with 15.8 million shares valued at N98.5 million traded in 207 deals.
FCMB Group Plc was next with 13.2 million shares valued at N22.3 million traded in 74 deals. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc rounded off the top five most actively-traded stocks today with 11.9 million shares valued at N333 million traded in 168 deals.

Corporate Action

LASACO Assurance Plc has released its financial statements for the period ended March 31, 2019. Gross Premium increased from N3.7 billion in 2018 to N4.5 billion in 2019. Profit Before Tax increased from N231 million in 2018 to N328 million in 2019. Profit After Tax also increased from N190 million in 2018 to N256 million in 2019.
