Ghanaian startup, Trukrtech, has emerged the winner of TechCircle’s Pitch2Win competition, 2019. As a result, the company received equity-free funding valued at N1 million.
The startup, which serves as a digital commercial hub for listing and booking of third-party trucks, emerged as the winner yesterday, June 12, 2019, at the pitching event. The event saw 10 startups competing against one another for the main price.
Speaking during the competition, the Founder of TechCircle, Oo Nwoye said all startups that pitched were exceptional. Beyond that, the opportunity the event gave for all the participants to tell their own stories and connect to a pool of investors was more than satisfactory.
“As I always say, Pitch2Win is more like a match-making event for young startups and investors. We had investors fly in from Japan, scouting for young emerging businesses to help scale.
“I am particularly happy for the winning startup. The founder took a bold step to fly in from Ghana, and thankfully, his self-belief brought a positive outcome.”
How Trukrtech emerged the winner: Call for application made early in May 2019 got over 200 entries across Africa. According to a statement seen by Nairametrics, this was followed by a rigorous screening process which saw the eventual selection of 10 finalists. The process culminated in the grand finale where selected startups battled for N1 million equity-free funding.
The winning startup, TruckrTech, fought it through to beat out the other 9 impressive startups. Nairametrics understands that judges were impressed with TruckrTech‘s scalability potential to multiply their trucks and expand services beyond Ghana.
Speaking after emerging the winner, the ecstatic Founder of TruckrTech, Caryl Joshua Akonor, stated the following;
“We did our pilot between January and April, and started full operations in May 2019.
“Between May and June, we’ve done $12,000 in revenue. We can look at 15% month on month revenue increase with this funding from Pitch2Win.”
