Nigerian Stocks had an awful Thursday

The Nigerian Stock Exchange ended Thursday’s trading session in negative territory. The All Share Index closed at 30,527.07 basis points, down 1.30­­­­­%.

Year to date, the index is down 2.87%.

Top Gainers and Losers

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 9.90% to close at N21.65. Champion Breweries Plc gained 8.11% to close at N1.20. Academy Press Plc gained 7.41% to close at N0.29. Livestock Feeds Plc gained 6.78% to close at N0.63. UAC of Nigeria Plc rounds up the top five gainers for today. The stock gained 5.60% to close at N6.60.

On the flip side, Thomas Wyatt Plc was the worst performing stock, declining by 10% to close at N0.36. Capital Oil Plc fell by 8.70% to close at N0.21. Courtville Business Solution Plc fell by 8.33% to close at N0.22. NEM Insurance Plc fell by 8.07% to close at N2.05. Jaiz Bank Plc rounds up the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 4.17% to close at N0.46.

Top Trades by Volume

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was the most actively traded stock today. 82.8 million shares valued at N2.5 billion were traded in 239 deals. United Bank of Africa Plc was next with 8 million shares valued at N218 million traded in 171 deals. FBN Holdings Plc was next with 7.5 million shares valued at N52 million traded in 140 deals. 11 Plc (Mobil) was next with 5.1 million shares valued at N906 million traded in 11 deals. Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc rounds up the top five most actively traded stocks today with 4.6 million shares valued at N94.1 million traded in 116 deals.

Corporate Actions

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated notifies the public that it has successfully tapped the international capital market for an additional $50 million in Eurobonds due April 2024. The Bonds will be consolidated and form a single series with the $450 million 9.5% issued in April 2019 and due in April 2024.

Union Bank Plc, notifies the general public of its Extra-Ordinary General Meeting, which will be held in The Grand BallRoom, Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island, Lagos on June 11, 2019 at 10.00am.

The qualification date is July 5, 2019.

The Register of Shareholders will be closed from July 8, 2019 to July 10, 2019.
