Guinness Nigeria says no life lost after inferno, restates commitment to safety, health

Guinness Nigeria, Guinness Nigeria Announces Material Circumstances That Will Impact FY 2020, Guinness Nigeria posts N524 million profit in Q2 2020/21

Guinness Nigeria Plc, yesterday had a fire incident, which engulfed part of its Aba plant. The fire was reported to have begun at about 11.30am and lasted till late evening yesterday.

No cause for alarm 

The company in a statement released today,confirmed the incident, and stated the fire had been put out.

On the 18th of January 2018 there was a fire outbreak at the Aba premises of Guinness Nigeria Plc located in Osisioma Industrial Layout. The fire, which did not affect any of the buildings on site, was swiftly contained and put under control by men of the Aba Fire Service Department with assistance from neighbouring companies.

The brewer also stated that there were no injuries or major material loss resulting from the incident.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or major material loss resulting from the incident as the Aba premises currently serves as a logistics centre with few personnel on site.  Our major production operations take place in our Benin and Ogba Breweries.

Guinness Nigeria Plc closed at N71 on Friday’s trading session at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), unchanged from the previous day.

Results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2018 show revenue dipped slightly from N29.9 billion in 2017 to N28 billion in 2018. Profit before tax, however, rose from N41.3 million in 2017 to N1.2 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also increased from N41.3 million in 2017 to N835 million in 2018.
