Nigerians on social media were lamenting a brief outage in popular social media platform, Instagram. Down detector, a popular website also confirmed the outage.

The app displayed could not refresh feed, but the errors have since been rectified. The outage affected several countries.

Implications of the outage

Several businesses could have lost millions of dollars, through interrupted campaigns, as well as advert revenue.

Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Facebook bought the company in April 2012 for $1 billion.
