NSE reverses yesterday’s negative close

Nigerian Stock Exchange Trading Floor

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed today on a positive note as the All Share Index closed in the green, 36.688.91 basis points up 0.21%. Year to date, the market remains negative at 4.06%.

Top gainers and losers 

Portland Paints Plc was the biggest gainer in today’s trading session, closing at N2.25 up 9.76%. UAC Properties Development Company (UPDC) followed closely with a 9.68% gain to close at N1.70. LASACO Assurance Plc closed at N0.36, up 9.09%.

On the flip side, Secure Electronic Technology (formerly known as NSL Tech) led the losers chart, closing at N0.36, down 10%. Next on the losers list was Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc which closed at N27.5, down 5.40%. Oando Plc closed at N5.60, down 4.27%.

Top trades by volume 

NAHCO Aviance Plc was the largest traded stock by volume as 36.1 million shares valued at N144 million were traded in 40 deals. 28.7 million UBA Plc shares valued at N270 million were traded in 147 deals. 25.9 million FBNH (First Bank) shares valued at N258 million were traded in 336 deals.

Corporate Actions 

Notore Chemical Industries Limited 

Notore Chemical Industries Limited listed by way of introduction its entire paid-up capital comprising  1,612,066,200  ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at N62.50.

The company also held a Facts Behind the Listing presentation after today’s trading session.

Staco Insurance 

The company, in a notice issued today, stated that it was unable to submit its results for the period ended June 2018 because its full-year 2017 results were currently being reviewed by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc 

The company, in a press release issued today, disclosed that it was unable to submit its results for the period ended June 2017 because the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) was currently reviewing its full-year 2017 results.

A suspension placed on the stock by the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) will be lifted once its full-year results are submitted.
