Leading Nigerian economist and economic commentator Bismarck Rewane has come out to deny his appoint by MEND as one of the 7 people nominated to discuss with the Federal Government on their behalf. The Niger Delta based militant group named Odein Ajumogobia, a former Minister of Petroleum, to dialogue with the Federal Government.
MEND’s spokesman, Jomo Gbomo, said that other members of the group, tagged, “Aaron Team 2”, are Bismark Rewane (Delta) and Florence Ita-Giwa (Cross River). The rest are Timipa Jenkins Okponipere (Bayelsa), Ledum Mitee (Rivers) and Lawson Omokhodion (Edo) and Ibanga Isine (Akwa Ibom), a reporter with PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr Rewane who is sought after by foreign investors interested in investing in Nigeria has now vehemently denied the link up. See his tweet below
MEND's appointment to dialogue with FGN not ME. Do not know MEND or support any militancy therefore cannot represent MEND
