The Dangote Cement Plc says it has commenced of the construction of a new three million metric tonnes per annum capacity cement grinding plant in Cote d’Ivoire.
Dangote Group Executive Director, Strategy, Projects and Portfolio Management, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, disclosed in Lagos that the Cote d’Ivoire project would gulp $200million and would be completed in 18 months.
The project, sits on over 60 hectares of land, next to the New Industrial Park in Yongbon, a city just outside of Abidjan.
When completed, the plant will utilize power off the grid and provide direct and indirect jobs for over 3,000 people from within Cote d’Ivoire and other west African countries.
According to Edwin, the project is being undertaken by Ayoki Fabricon, a mechanical and civil engineering company based in Pune, India. Tyssen Krupp.
Dangote Cement has so far built and commissioned cement plants in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Zambia, Ethiopia, while that of Senegal and South Africa.
