General Electric (GE) has announced that it will partner Dangote Group for cement production in Africa.
Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said earlier that his company should be able to generate about 12,000 megawatts of electricity for the country by 2018 and his business estate would start selling foreign exchange to the Central Bank of Nigeria by 2020.
The cement subsidiary of the group is the continents largest cement company, with its plant situated in Obajana recording a daily production of 30 000 tons of cement daily.
GE is expected to supply the cement giant with enough power to curb shortages from power supply in the country.
According to reports, the plant is fully powered by four GE gas turbines which runs on natural gas and Automotive Gas and Oils.
