The 11 electricity Distribution companies (Discos) have formed a new group under the aegis of the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) just as some may be on the brink of financial catastrophe while owing billions of naira for power supplied.
ANED was initiated last Month to be a collective voice for the Discos after being formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). The Discos had attempted a Disco’s Roundtable by November 2013 shortly after they took over key privatised assets with former NERC Chairman, Ransome Rowan, leading the group
However, the present chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, discouraged the roundtable and instead started the monthly CEOs meeting by December 2013, involving the Discos, Generation Companies (Gencos), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and other sector participants.
