Lagos issues traffic advisory as FG begins two-week Kara Bridge repairs on Tuesday

The Federal Government will begin a two-week replacement of the expansion joint at Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday, July 28, with motorists advised to prepare for temporary traffic disruptions.

The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the ministry, the repair works, to be carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works, will require the temporary reduction of the existing four-lane carriageway to two lanes over a 1.5-kilometre stretch, resulting in partial traffic disruptions around the Kara axis.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, said the repairs were necessary to restore the bridges’ safety, stability, and durability while preventing more serious structural failures.
