The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians about the circulation of unregistered and suspected counterfeit Colgate toothpaste in Kaduna State.
The alert was disclosed in a public notice issued by the agency following a complaint received by its Post-Marketing Surveillance (PMS) Directorate.
According to NAFDAC, the complaint triggered an investigation, leading PMS officials to inspect a retail outlet where the products were reportedly being sold.

During the inspection, officials discovered two suspected counterfeit products branded as Coglaet ActivGel 100g and Coglaet Herbal 100g being sold at the shop.
The shop owner reportedly told investigators that the products were purchased from a door-to-door sales representative but failed to provide proof of purchase.
NAFDAC noted that the counterfeit products have been removed from circulation at the identified outlet
- “The products have not met the required regulatory standards for registration and quality assurance, thereby posing a potential risk to public health and safety,” the agency stated.

The suspected counterfeit products identified include:
- Coglaet Crema Dental Herbal 100 g
- Coglaet ActivGel 100g
- Both products reportedly list Guangzhou YECAI Oral Cleaning Products Co., Ltd, China, as the manufacturer but carry no batch numbers or NAFDAC registration numbers.
- Manufacturing dates were listed as August 2025, with expiry dates extending to August 2029.

Consumers are encouraged to report suspected counterfeit or substandard products to the nearest NAFDAC office or through its official communication channels, including its helpline and online reporting platforms.
