Dangote Cement, others weighs down the stock market as capitalization decreases by N280.62 billion

Stocks drop after the S&P 500 sets a new high

The NGX closed on a negative note amidst sell-offs and buy-interests as the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) depreciated by 112 basis points.

The NGX ASI closed at 46,009.23 points, to reflect a decline of 1.12% from the previous trading day and a Year-to-Date (YTD) return of 7.71%. Meanwhile, the market capitalization increased by N280.62 billion.

At the close of market on Thursday 27th January 2022, the stock exchange market value currently stands at N24.79 trillion from N25.07 trillion in the previous trading day.

The market breadth closed positive as GUINNESS led 26 gainers, and 1 losers topped by NEM at the end of today’s session.

The stock market has advanced 3,292.79 base points since the start of the year.

  • GUINNESS up +10.00% to close at N46.75
  • INTBREW up +10.00% to close at N5.50
  • ETI up +9.63% to close at N11.95
  • PRESTIGE up +9.52% to close at N0.46
  • UNILEVER up +7.28% to close at N14.00

  • NEM down – 8.57% to close at N3.20
  • DANGCEM down – 8.53% to close at N260.60
  • AIICO down – 5.00% to close at N0.76
  • ARDOVA down – 4.96% to close at N12.45
  • MULTIVERSE down – 4.76% to close at N0.20
