Oil marketing giant, Total Nigeria Plc on Thursday, announced that the company’s shareholders on August 19, 2021, voted to change its name to TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc.
This was contained in a formal notification sent by Total to the investing public and the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited and signed by its Company Secretary/Executive General Manager, Mrs Bunmi Popoola-Mordi.
Popoola-Mordi said that the name change is accompanied by a new visual identity for all its activities and is aimed at anchoring its transformation to a multi-energy group.

What the Company Secretary/Executive General Manager of Total is saying
The statement from Popoola-Mordi reads, ‘’We write to formally notify the investing public and the Nigerian Exchange Limited that on the 19th of August, 2021 shareholders of Total Nigeria Plc voted to change the name of the company to TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc.
“The name change is accompanied by a new visual identity for all of our activities, aimed at anchoring our transformation to a multi-energy group, such transformation being based on a development strategy of two pillars, gas and renewable electricity as well as the underlying ambition of a transition to carbon neutrality by 2050.
“The company has successfully completed the regulatory processes for the name change. Henceforth, the company is to be known as TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc.’’

It can be recalled that in May 2021, French energy giant, Total SE, the parent company of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, announced a change of its name to TotalEnergies as the company moved to become one of the world’s top five in renewables by 2030.
The decision follows the approval of the resolution presented by the Board of Directors at the Ordinary and Extraordinary Shareholders’ meeting, held on May 28, 2021, by the oil and gas firm in Paris, France.
