The Ekiti State Government has announced it has approved the sum of N7.6 billion for the construction of roads and rehabilitation of infrastructure in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement by Mr Akin Omole, the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, adding that the sum was approved during the State Weekly Executive Council meeting, according to NAN.
The commissioner said that N92.2 million was earmarked for the construction of Ikole township roads, N4.3 billion was also approved for the construction of the Ado-Iworoko road.
“The sum of N2.3 billion was approved for the construction of bus terminals and pedestrian walkway-drain covers, along Ijigbo road to Okeiyinmi roundabout in Ado-Ekiti,’’ Omole said
He also added that the state government gave contractors handling the project a timeline of 10 and 12 months to complete the projects.
“The approval for the award of contracts followed due process and diligent vetting by the Bureau of Public Procurement.
“It will also aid the safety and security of lives and property of the residents,” he added.

- For January 2021, the State reported revenue of N4.4 billion and a total recurrent expenditure of N4.3 billion.
- For February, revenue of N3.2 billion and expenditures of N4.1 billion was reported.
- For March, revenue of N3.2 billion and expenditure of N4 billion was reported.
- The total revenue for Q1 2021 was N11,095,936,504.57. The total recurrent expenditures stood at N12,621,335,548.90 and the state recorded a deficit of N1,525,399,044.33.
