Team Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi advances to the final of the men’s shotput event

Team Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has advanced to the final of the men’s shotput event. His throw of 21.16 put him among the top 12 throws that qualified for Thursday’s final.

Two members of Nigeria’s contingent to the Tokyo games have so far, picked up medals at the tournament. Earlier today, Blessing Oborududu won Nigeria’s first silver medal in the women’s 68kg wrestling category after losing 4-1 to USA’s Tamyra Stock-Mensah at the final match. The 32-year-old wrestler had earlier won 7-2 against Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzobold in the semi-finals to secure a spot in the finals.

Earlier today also, Ese Brume picked up a bronze medal, Nigeria’s first medal in this year’s Olympic games when she recorded a 6.97 metres jump in the final of the women’s long jump.
