CHAMS Plc brings back Demola Aladekomo as Chairman following Dere Awosika’s resignation

Nigerian IT company, CHAMS Plc, announced yesterday that it had appointed Sir Demola Aladekomo as its new Chairman of the board of directors. The appointment took effect on the 3rd of March, 2020, according to a public disclosure that was issued to the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

Aladekomo’s appointment follows the resignation of CHAMS Plc’s former Chairman, Dere Awosika, who left the company earlier this month to “focus on her other business commitments.”

In the public disclosure, which was signed by the Company Secretary, Yetunde Emmanuel, CHAMS Plc went further to appreciate Awosika for services rendered whilst warmly welcoming the incoming Chairman. Part of the statement said:

“The Board and Management of Chams Plc welcomed Sir Aladekomo as the Company’s new Chairman and expressed their sincere appreciation to Dr Awosika for her meritorious service and support rendered to the Company during her tenure as non-executive Director and Chairman of the Board.”

Note that Sir Ademola Aladekomo is the founder of CHAMS Plc. He has been described as an astute entrepreneur and a visionary business and industry leader. From 1985, when the company was incorporated, he served the founding Managing Director until 2015 when he retired as the Group Managing Director. He currently sits on the boards of different companies and NGOs.

Aladekomo graduated from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1982 with a B.Sc degree in Computer Engineering. He also obtained an MBA (with Distinction) from the University of Lagos in 1984. He also holds a degree from the Lagos Business School where he participated in the Chief Executive Programme.

He has served as the president of the Nigeria Computer Society. He is also a Fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society, a Member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, and a Fellow of the Computer Professional Registration Council.
