NSE’s trades hit N121.99 billion in August

The total transactions recorded in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), has increased from N113.5 billion as at the end of July 2019, to N121.99 billion by the end of August, 2019.

While foreign investors up their investments from N57.7 billion to N63.9 billion, their domestic counterparts also increased transactions from N55.6 billion to N58.09 billion, which represent 52.3% and 47.6% respectively within the same period. 

The total transactions at the nation’s bourse increased by 7.51% between July and August.

The breakdown: In January 2019, the total transaction stood at N122.08 billion, out of which foreign investment gulped N66.85 billion (54.76%) while domestic investment took N55.23 billion (45.24%).

In February 2019, the total transaction was N188.08 billion, from which foreign investment took N98.94 billion (52.61%), while domestic investment took N89.14 billion (47.39%). 

For March 2019, the total transaction was valued at N110.11 billion, out of which foreign investment took N59.09 billion (50.94%), while domestic investment recorded N54.02 billion (49.06%). 

On the NSE, the total transaction for the month of April 2019 stood at N148.91 billion, from which foreign investment gulped N76.92 billion (51.6%), while domestic investment took N71.99 billion (48.34%). 

The total transaction recorded on the nation’s bourse for May 2019 stood at N221.12 billion, from which N77.25 billion (34.94%) was foreign investment, while domestic investment was N143.87 billion (65.06%). 

In June 2019, the NSE had on record an accrued transaction of N297.25 billion, from which foreign investment was N96.74 billion (32.54%), while domestic investment was N200.51 billion (67.46%). 

The total transaction on the nation’s bourse dropped to N113.47 billion in July 2019, out of which foreign investment gulped N57.78 billion (50.92%), while domestic investment took N55.69 billion (49.08%).

Note that from January 2019, till date, foreign portfolio investment has contributed N594.5 billion (44.93%) to the N1.32 trillion total investment recorded on the NSE. Domestic investment, however, gulped the highest with N728 billion (55.07%).
