The Nigerian Stock Exchange witnesses bearish trades on Wednesday

The Nigerian Stock Exchange ended Wednesday’s trading session in negative territory. The All Share Index closed at 29,256.60 basis points, down 0.21%. Year to date, the index is down 6.72%.

Top Gainers and Losers: Cadbury Nigeria Plc was the best performing stock yesterday. The stock gained 4.37% to close at N11.95. Japaul Oil & Maritime Services Plc also gained 4.35% to close at N0.24. Dangote Flour Plc gained 1.75% to close at N17.40. Morison Industries Plc gained 1.69% to close at N0.60. Nigerian Breweries Plc was the last of the top five gainers for Wednesday by gaining 0.83% to close at N60.50.

On the flip side, Glaxaosmith Kline Pharmaceuticals Plc was the worst performing stock, declining by 9.78% to close at N8.30. Courtville Business Solution Plc also fell by 8.70% to close at N0.21. Ecobank Transnational Inc fell by 8.65% to close at N9.50. Dangote Sugar Plc fell by 8.26% to close at N10.55. Wema Bank Plc shed 7.58% to close at N0.61.

Top Trades by Volume: Zenith Bank Plc was the most actively traded stock yesterday. 45.1 million shares valued at N866 million were traded in 231 deals. Morison Industries Plc was next with 20.9 million shares valued at N11.5 million traded in 15 deals. FBN Holdings Plc was next with 19.4 million shares valued at 119 million traded in 160 deals followed by Guaranty Trust Bank Plc with 14.1 million shares valued at N404 million traded in 268 deals. Transnational Corp of Nigeria Plc rounded up the top five most actively traded stocks on Wednesday with 11.4 million shares valued at N11.7 million traded in 81 deals.


Corporate Action

Julius Berger Plc declared July 12th as the commencement date of the closed period for trading in its shares.

Red Star Express Plc declared a dividend of (N43), (50) kobo per share for 2019 first quarter ended.

The Company’s Annual General Meeting will be held at Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, 8/9 Marina Road, Onikan, Lagos State on August 8, 2019 at 11.00am.

The qualification date is July 16, 2019.

The Register of Shareholders will be closed from July 17, 2019 to July 19, 2019.
