The Federal Government has declared Friday the 22nd of February, 2019 a public holiday. The move according to a statement by the Minister of Interior is to enable Nigerians to return to their polling units to vote. Banks and other essential services will, however, remain open.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had last week announced the postponement of the 2019 general elections due to what it termed logistic challenges.

Presidential and national assembly elections were rescheduled to Saturday 23rd February 2019. Governorship, state house of assembly and FCT elections are rescheduled for  Saturday 9th March 2019.
