Global Spectrum Energy Services Plc on the day of listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange

The Nigerian Stock Exchange fell sharply in the last trading session for the month of January. The All Share Index ended today’s trading session at 30,557.20 basis points, down 1.89%. Year to date, the index is down 2.78%

Top Gainers and Losers 

McNichols Plc rebounded after several days of losses. The stock was the best performing today, appreciating by 10% to close at N0.33. Sunu Assurances also gained 10% to close at N0.22. Learn Africa rounds up the top three gainers for the day. The stock added 8.73% to close at N1.37.

On the flip side, Redstar Express was the worst performing stock today. The stock declined by 9.09% to close at N5. First Aluminum was next, dropping by 8.57% to close at N0.32. Niger Insurance rounds up the top three losers for the day, shedding 8.33% to close at N0.22

Top trades by Volume 

UBA was the most actively traded stock today. 123 million shares valued at N859 million were traded in 677 deals. Transcorp was next with 33 million shares valued at N41 million traded in 124 deals.

Custodian Investments rounds up the top three most actively traded stocks with 32.9 million shares valued at N204 million traded in 13 deals.

Corporate Actions

Guaranty Trust Bank appoints ED

The bank’s board of directors has approved the appointment of Jide Okuntola as an Executive Director.

Shareholders approve Newrest ASL delisting

At an extraordinary general meeting held on the 29th of January, 2019, shareholders of the company approved its voluntary delisting from the NSE.

The board of the firm has also been authorized to carry out whatever actions that may be required.
