NSE opens in the green as Access Bank tops volume chart

The Nigerian Stock Exchange closed today’s trading session on a positive note, bouncing back from last week. The All Share Index closed at 29,964.79 basis points, up 0.45%.

Year to date, the index, however, remains in the red, down 4.66%.

Trading hours were extended today due to a technical glitch that lasted four hours. Today’s session thus ended at 3.30pm.

Top Gainers 

First Aluminium Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 9.09% to close at N0.36. United Capital was next, appreciating by 5.30% to close at N2.98. Mutual Benefits Assurance rounds up the top three gainers for today, adding 5% to close at N0.21.

On the flip side, Linkage Assurance was the worst performing stock today. The stock shed 9.23% to close at N0.59. Wapic Insurance was next with declining by 9.09% to close at N0.40. NAHCO rounds up the top three losers for the day, dropping by 8.29% to close at N3.21.

Top Trades by Volume  

Diamond Bank was the most actively traded stock today. 50 million shares valued at N103 million were traded in 131 deals. Access Bank was next with 16.4 million shares valued at N92 million traded in 155 deals. Zenith Bank rounds up the top three most actively traded today with 12.3 million shares valued at N268 million traded in 284 deals.

Corporate Action

The technical suspension placed on trading of C and I Leasing Plc was lifted today. The outstanding shares have been reduced from 1.8 billion to 404 million. The stock closed at N8.29 in today’s session, its post reconstruction share price.
