The Nigerian Stock Exchange continued its downward spiral in today’s trading session. The All Share Index closed at 30,400.28 basis points, down 0.78%. Year to date, the index is down 3.28%

Top Gainers and Losers

Diamond Bank was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 10% to close at ₦1.98. Wapic Insurance also gained 10% to close at ₦0.44. AG Leventis rounds up the top three gainers for the day. The stock added 7.41% to close at ₦0.29.

On the flip side, NEM Insurance was the worst performing stock today. The stock shed 10% to close at ₦2.34. Resort Savings and Loans was declined by 10% to close at ₦0.45. MRS Oil rounds up the top three losers for the day, shedding 9.92% to close at ₦23.15.

Top Trades by Volume

Diamond Bank was the most actively traded stock today. 77.6 million shares valued at ₦153 million were traded in 294 deals. Zenith Bank was next with 19.7 million shares valued at ₦430 million traded in 489 deals. FBN Holdings rounds up the top three most actively traded for today. 10.8 million shares valued at ₦80.6 million were traded in 196 deals.

Sterling Bank Plc sent in a notice informing the NSE and the general public of a change in its logo.

Unilever Nigeria Plc 

Unilever Nigeria Plc has commenced a closed period from Monday 7 January 2019 until Thursday 24 January 2019 or 24 hours after the filing of the Unaudited Interim Financial Statements for Quarter ended 31 December 2018, whichever is earlier.

Zenith Bank Plc 

The board of the bank will be meeting on January 18, 2019 to consider its results for the 2018 financial year, as well as the recommendation of a final dividend. The bank has subsequently commenced a closed trading period today, till its results are released. During this time, parties with access to sensitive information can not trade their shares.

UBA Plc

The board of the bank will be meeting on January 28, 2019 to consider its results for the 2018 financial year, as well as the recommendation of a final dividend.
