Bears claw part of yesterday’s huge gains on the NSE

The Nigerian Stock Exchange reversed into negative territory, after yesterday’s huge  gains. The All Share Index closed at 32,963.27 basis points, down 0.46%. Year to date, the index is down 13.81%

Top Gainers and Losers 

UAC Properties Development Company was the best performing stock today. The stock closed at N1.87%, up 10%. Niger Insurance closed at N0.37, up 8.87%. University Press Limited closed at N2.05, up 7.33%

Berger Paints was the worst performing stock in today’s session. The stock declined by 10% to close at N6.30. Prestige Assurance Plc closed at N0.46, down 9.80%. Royal Exchange Assurance Plc closed at N 0.20.  9.09%,

Top Trades by Volume 

Fidelity Bank plc was the most traded stock by volume today as investors react to its H1 2018 results. 33.8 million shares valued at N57.2 million were traded in 277 deals. 27.2 million Guaranty Trust Bank shares valued at N1 billion were traded in 189 deals. 19.7 million UBA shares valued at N165 million were traded in 159 deals.

Fidelity Bank releases H1 2018 results

Fidelity Bank Plc today released its results for the half year ended June 2018.  Gross Earnings increased from N85.8 billion in 2017 to N88.9 billion in 2018. Profit Before tax increased from N10.2 billion in 2017 to N13.1 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also increased from N9 billion in 2017 to N11.8 billion in 2018.

Guaranty Trust Bank

The bank, informed the NSE in a notice today that its board would be meeting on the 17th of October 2018. Agenda is the consideration of its results for third quarter ended September 30 2018. The bank would also commence a closed period in the trading of its shares on September 28 2018.
