NSE All Share Index opens the week on a positive note

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened the week on a positive note, as the All Share Index closed in the green, up 0.84%. Year to date, the index is down 3.39%.

Top gainers and losers

Mutual Benefits was the best performing stock in today’s trading session, closing at N0.33, up 10%. Seplat Petroleum, which today, released its half-year results closed N687.50, up 10%. Northern Nigeria Flour Mills closed at N7.20, up 9.92%.

On the flip side, Pharmadeko Plc closed at N1.98, down 10%. Conoil closed at N24.30, down 10%. Medview Air closed at N1.93, down 9.81%.

Top trades by volume

Medview Air was the largest trading stock by volume as 100,000,000 shares valued at N193 million were traded in 7 deals. Mediview has traded over 500,000,000 shares in the last few trading sessions, indicating a key investor may be taking a position.34 million Sterling Bank shares valued at N447 million were traded in 45 deals. Rounding up the top three largest trades was UBA where 32 million shares valued at N316 million were traded in 180 deals.

Corporate Actions

NSE lifts the suspension on Universal Insurance Plc

In a notice placed on its website today, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has lifted the full suspension placed on Universal Insurance shares. The company alongside 7 others was suspended earlier in the month for failing to submit its financial statements for the 2017 financial year.

Seplat Petroleum

Seplat Petroleum releases its results for the period ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N40 billion in 2017 to N106 billion in 2018. Profit before tax stood at N37 billion as against a loss of N8 billion recorded in the comparative period of 2018. Profit after tax stood at N14.8 billion in 2018 as against a loss after tax of N8.4 billion recorded in 2017.

McNichols Plc

McNichols Plc has released its results for the half year ended June 2018. Revenue dipped from N470 million in 2017 to N430 million in 2018. Profit before tax increased from N18.5 million in 2017 to N20 million in 2018. Profit after tax also increased from N14.2 million in 2017 to N17.2 million in 2018.

Africa Prudential Plc

Africa Prudential Plc has released its results for the half year ended June 2018. Gross earnings increased from N1.4 billion in 2017 to N2.1 billion in 2018. Profit before tax increased from N950 million in 2017 to N1.1 billion in 2018. Profit after tax rose from N864 million in 2017 to N985 million in 2018.

Cadbury Nigeria Plc

Cadbury Nigeria Plc released its results for the period ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N16.2 billion in 2017 to N17.5 billion in 2018. The company made a loss before tax of N423 million in 2018 as against a loss before tax of N766 million in 2017. Loss after tax also stood at N423 million in 2018 as against a loss after tax of N766 million.

Beta Glass Plc

Beta Glass Plc has released its financial statements for the period ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N8.7 billion in 2017 to N13.1 billion in 2018. Profit before tax jumped from N2.1 billion in 2017 to N3.5 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also surged from N1.4 billion in 2017 to N2.3 billion in 2018.

AG Leventis Plc

AG Leventis released its results for the half year ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N6.5 billion in 2017 to N6.9 billion in 2018. Loss before tax stood at N802 million in 2018, as against N726 million in 2018. Loss after tax increased from N448 million in 2017 to N545 million in 2018.

Champion Breweries

Champion Breweries has released its results for the period ended June 2018. Revenue dipped from N1.1 billion in 2017 to N1.0 billion in 2018. Profit before tax fell sharply from N66 million in 2017 to N20 million in 2018. Profit after tax also fell from N46 million in 2017 to N13 million in 2018.

Chams Plc

Chams Plc has released its results for the period ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N853 million in 2017 to N1.3 billion in 2018. The company made a profit before tax of N291 million in 2018 as against a loss of N1.2 billion in 2017. The firm made a profit after tax of N272 million as against a loss after tax of N78 million in the corresponding period in 2017.

Red Star Express

Red Star Express released its results for the period ended June 2018. Turnover increased from N2.0 billion in 2017 to N2.3 billion in 2018. Profit before tax dipped from N176 million in 2017 to N164 million in 2018. Profit after tax also fell from N120 million in 2017 to N111 million in 2018.

Diamond Bank

Diamond Bank released its results for the period ended June 2018. Interest income increased from N97.8 billion in 2017 to 98.5 billion in 2018. Profit before tax dropped from N9.5 billion in 2017 to N2.9 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also dropped from N8 billion in 2017 to N1.7 billion.

Sterling Bank

Sterling Bank released its results for the half year ended June 2018. Interest income icnreased from N50 billion in 2017 to N62 billion in 2018. Profit before tax increased from N4.3 billion in 2017 to N6.3 billion in 2018. Profit after tax surged from N3.8 billion in 2017 to N6.2 billion in 2018.

Nigerian Breweries

Revenue fell from N192 billion in 2017 to N183 billion in 2018. Profit before tax Fell from N34 billion in 2017 to N27.5 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also dropped from N23.7 billion in 2017 to N18.4 billion in 2018.

Total Plc

Total Plc released its results for the period ended June 2018. Revenue increased from N72.5 billion in 2017 to N80 billion in 2018. Profit before tax doubled from N3.0 billion in 2017 to N6.0 billion in 2018. Profit after tax also surged from N1.9 billion in 2017 to N4.0 billion in 2018.

Nestle Plc

Nestle Nigeria Plc’s revenue increased from N121 billion in 2017 to N135 billion in 2018. Profit before tax increased from N24.4 billion in 2017 to N31.8 billion in 2018. Profit after tax increased from N16.5 billion in 2017 to N24.4 billion in 2018.
