Nigeria participated in her sixth Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup tournament, at the just concluded Russia 2018 soccer showpiece. Having made her debut at USA 94, Nigeria has only failed to appear at the global event just once since 1994 -Germany 2006.

Participating at the world cup gulped millions of dollars from each of the 32 participating teams. The Federal Government spent about N3 billion on Super Eagles for raising Nigeria’s flag at the global soccer fiesta in Russia. However, Nigeria’s world cup budget depends on the prevailing exchange rate, since the events are held outside the country.
This amount is spent on preparation for the tournament, players’ match bonuses, camp allowances, hotel accommodation, training base payments, transportation, logistics etc.
