These stocks made money for investors last week

This week was a bearish one as the NSE All-Share Index and Market Capitalization depreciated by 0.28% to close the week at 40,814.89 bps and N14.7 trillion respectively. Month to date, the index is down 1.66%. Year to date, however, the index remains positive at 6.72%.

36 equities appreciated in price during the week, 33 depreciated, while 100 equities remained unchanged.  Here is a list of the gainers and losers.

Gainers

Oando Plc

Oando Plc was the biggest gainer this week. The stock opened at N6.90 and closed at N9.60, gaining N2.70 or 39.13%. The stock is also at a year high. Year to date, the stock is up 60.27%. Oando has been on a bullish run since a suspension slammed on it was lifted two weeks ago.

Jaiz Bank Plc

Jaiz Bank appreciated by 21.13% in last week’s trading session. The stock opened at N0.71 and closed at N0.86. In percentage terms, it rose by 21.13%. Year to date, the stock is 36.51%.

Skye Bank Plc

Skye Bank opened at N0.80 and closed at N0.95, up N0.15 or 18.75%. Year to date, the stock is up 90%. Skye Bank is yet to release its FY 2017 financial statements.

Julius Berger Plc

Julius Berger  gained 14.89%. The stock opened at N23.50 and closed at N27. Year to date, the stock is down 3.57%, down from its year high of N32.

Unity Bank Plc

Unity Bank opened at N1.11 and closed at N1.27. The stock gained N0.16 or 14.41%. Year to date, the stock is up 139.62%.

Northern Nigeria Flour Mills Plc

Northern Nigeria Flour Mills (NNFM) opened the week at N6.25 and closed at N6.85. The stock gained N0.60 or 9.60%. NNFM is a subsidiary of Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN) Plc. Year to date, the stock is up 20.18%.

NEM Insurance Plc

NEM Insurance gained 9.17% this week. The stock opened at N2.40 and closed at N2.62, up N0.22. Year to date, the stock is up 57.83%.

Regency Alliance Insurance Plc

Regency Alliance opened the week at N0.28 and closed at N0.30. The stock gained N0.02 or 7.14%. Year to date, the stock is down 40%. The company this week declared a final dividend of N0.03 per share.

Eterna Plc

Eterna Plc gained 6.02% this week. The stock opened at N6.15 and closed at N6.52, up N0.37. Year to date, the stock is up 60.59%.

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI)

ETI opened at N18.40 and closed at N19.50. The stock gained N1.10 or 5.98%. Year to date, the stock is up 14.71%.

Losers

AG Leventis Plc

AG Leventis was the week’s biggest decliner. The stock opened at N0.64 and closed at N0.55, down N0.09 or 14.06%. Year to date, the stock is down 21.43%. The company is yet to release its FY 2017 results.

11 Plc

11 Plc (formerly known as Mobil Plc) opened at N200 and closed at N172. The stock shed N28 or 14% this week. Year to date however, the stock is down 11.61%.

Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc

Mutual Benefits Assurance lost 12.12% during the week. The stock opened at N0.33 and closed at N0.29, down N0.04. Year to date, the stock is down 42%. The company had recently hinted at a possible dividend payment.

Niger Insurance Plc

Niger Insurance opened at N0.34 and closed at N0.31. The stock lost N0.03 or 8.82%. Year to date, the stock is down 38%.

Presco Plc

Presco Plc dropped N6.00 or 8.33% this week. The stock opened at N72 and closed at N66. Year to date, Presco is down 3.65%.

UACN Property Development Company (UPDC) Plc

UPDC opened at N2.80 and closed at N2.58. The stock lost N0.22 or 7.86%. Year to date, the stock is down 7.53%.

Livestock Feeds Plc

Livestock Feeds  closed down 7.78%. The stock opened at N0.90 and closed at N0.83, losing N0.07. Year to date, the stock is flat as it currently trades at its year low.

First Aluminium Nigeria Plc

First Aluminium opened the week at N0.53 and closed at N0.49, down N0.04 or 7.78%. Year to date, the stock is down 2%.

Continental Reinsurance Plc

Conti Re dropped 7.41% this week. The stock opened at N1.89 and closed at N1.75, down N0.14%. Year to date, the stock is up 25%.

NASCON Allied Industries Plc

NASCON opened the week at N21.50 and closed at N20.25, down N1.25 or 5.81%. Year to date, the stock is up 9.46%.
