Ethiopian Airlines will make history in Nigeria this week

Ethiopian Airlines  will this week make history as it plans on operating an all female flight crew on its flight from Lagos to Addis-Ababa on Saturday the 16th of December 2017.  The flight will be the first all female crew the airline will operate in the country. Ethiopian Air had recently operated an all female crew from Addis-Ababa to Bangkok.

Why is this big news ?

Besides being a source of motivation to young ladies who wish to take up a career in the aviation industry. The United States had an estimated 600,000 pilots in the United States as at 2013, of which 6% were women. The number is much smaller in African countries like Nigeria.

Why are there few females in aviation ?

Several factors have been attributed to for the low number of females in aviation, ranging from lack of funds for aviation training, a near absence of female mentors, and poor knowledge of science and map reading.
