The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday released its Premium Spirit (PMS) price watch for the month of December.
Kwara, Bayelsa and Kebbi states emerged as the states with the highest petrol price in the country, at N152 naira per litre. To our surpirse, states in the northern extremes of the country such as Sokoto and Borno had petrol selling for N146.4 and N145 naira respectively.
Petrol prices were lowest in Lagos, Oyo and Akwa Ibom States at N144 per litre.Year on Year, petrol prices went up 22% for the period between December 2015 and December 2016. The average price for petrol across states in the country was N147 per litre.
