The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed has said that the sale of broadcasting spectrum from the Digital Switch Over (DSO) from analog to terrestrial could earn the FG as much as $1 billion.
Lai Mohammed said this at the 11th edition of the International Conference for African Broadcasters, organized by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Abuja, insisting that the digital economy has the power to grow by $1 billion annually through increases in advertising, Nollywood income, and value added services.
The numerous opportunities afforded by the switchover, according to Mohammed, would proffer numerous opportunities in the areas of economics, politics, education, entertainment, science and technology,
“Many have said that the impact of digitization on television will be revolutionary and I cannot agree less. With digitization, the TV industry in Nigeria will be able to raise over $I billion in one year.” Guardian reports him as saying.
