The policy has prevented airlines from repatriating proceeds made here in Nigeria for months back to their parent countries.

According to reports, foreign airlines have had over $500 million trapped in various Nigerian banks.

Iberia had earlier expressed its dismay over the CBN’s forex policy and had threatened to withdraw if the policy was not withdrawn.

With this development, foreign airlines have requested to meet with the Federal Government in other to find an amicable solution by exempting foreign airlines from this policy.

LET THESE FOREIGN AIRLINES EXHIBIT SOME PATIENT BY ALLOWING NIGERIA TO ADJUST TO WHAT WILL BRING THE COUNTRY BACK TO SUCCESS. WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICES FROM NIGERIA (AFRICA LARGEST ECONOMY) MIGHT PROVE DISASTROUS TO THE AIRLINE! WHAT OUR GENUINE FOREIGN PARTNERS NEED IS GENUINE COOPERATION. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT NIGERIA WOULD MAKE GOOD THEIR FINANCIAL COMMITMENTS TO THESE FOREIGN AIRLINES. THOSE OF THEM WHO ARE UNWILLING TO HELP REVAMP THE ECONOMY SHOULD LEAVE; AND NEVER TO COME BACK WHEN THE ECONOMY STABILIZES. A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND WE NEED IN NIGERIA. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT YIELD TO TREAT BY ANY FOREIGN CONCERN WHO ARE UNWILLING TO HELP GROW THE ECONOMY.
